The Integrated Genomics Exploration Tools (IGET) website provides online access to a suite of tools for exploring biological pathways and DNA/RNA/protein regulatory elements associated with large-scale gene expression and protein behavior dynamics.
When you sign up for and use IGET, we collect, retain, and use certain pieces of information. We have sought to minimize the amount of information that is collected and retained to the amount that is operationally necessary and to use the collected information in a manner that preserves your privacy. We assume that your submitted queries are private and meaningless without additional context. Unless there is active collaboration with our lab using IGET, your query information will generally not be used, except to process your query, verify site functionality, and provide support when requested.
We can make no assurances about the security of your data or this system. Your use of this system is at your own risk.
We cannot (and this website was not designed to) prevent disclosure of information to authorities or third parties. Do not use this website for processing information that should not become public. Contact us if support is needed for using the offline versions of the tools.
When you visit IGET, information such as access time, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and other information supplied by your browser (e.g., User Agent) is collected and retained for security and site analysis.
Certain pages on IGET (e.g., sign up, query submission pages) contain human challenges (i.e., reCAPTCHA) and information such as access time, IP address, and other information supplied by your browser may be collected and retained by the outside service provider.
When you log in to your account, session cookies are used to associate your browser session with your account.
When you sign up for an account at IGET, information that may be found in a directory (your name, department, institution, and office phone number) is collected and retained for compliance with our free academic use policy.
Your e-mail address and selected password are used to provide access to your account. Your chosen password is not retained after registration and login as it is salted and hashed. In addition, your e-mail address is used to provide you with notifications, as requested (e.g., password reset), and in the course of normal usage (e.g., e-mail address verification, notification regarding completed queries).
When you create a query, you may submit query files, label files and queries, and choose tool parameters for processing. The query files, labels, and tool parameters are retained and used for query processing and future reference. Query results generated from your query files and tool parameters are retained for about two weeks before being deleted from the file system. Results for users affiliated with our lab may be stored for a longer time period.
We may examine your query file and tool parameters upon your request. We may also, from time to time, perform a cursory inspection of arbitrary query results to ensure that the site is functioning normally. In the case of a processing error, we may schedule your query for processing and verify completion.
Query files and tool parameters are currently retained for your reference after results have been deleted. Generally, we do not examine query files, parameters, or results.
Information that you provide to us through the website is secured in transit through the use of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. The site's computer system is administered by the University's technical staff.
Barring a data breach, the collected and retained information may be accessed by site administrators and University's technical staff and used to ensure normal site functioning and to determine potential future improvements to the site, in addition to the uses specified elsewhere in this document.
In addition, we may choose to disclose information that we have retained or collect and retain additional information when compelled to do so by law or by University authorities, to enforce our free academic use policy, and to protect the safety of us or others. We may or may not notify the affected users as soon as such notification is permitted.
Links to external resources may be present and the external sites may have different policies regarding the collection, retention, and use of information.
The tools available at IGET are also available in downloadable versions that may be used in an offline computing environment. You may choose to use the downloadable versions of the software, which are functionally identical. Some personal information may be collected as a requirement for downloading for compliance with our free academic use policy.
This document may be updated from time to time. Changes to the information collection, retention, and use aspects of this document will be implemented at least seven days after this document has been updated.
